Debate Volunteer Registration
State YMCA Michigan Youth in Government - Contemporary Issues Forum
Thank you for your interest in volunteering as a Sunday night coach and/or Monday judge for the Contemporary Issues Forum. Debate teams are formed in local schools, and coached by a variety of people (attorneys, teachers, debate teachers, etc.) in the home school districts of the students. The students come to Lansing exceptionally well prepared for their debates. Youth in Government relies on volunteers to judge the debates.
The Contemporary Issues Forum uses a standard debate format. The program has been a huge success since the beginning of the Middle School program in 2003. With the growth of CIF, the number of judges needed has continued to grow. The MYIG staff, including CIF Director Robert J. Miller, works closely with Cooley, MSU, and professional individuals to provide excellent programming and judging.
This year's competition will be hosted at the Best Western Plus Hotel located at 6820 S. Cedar Street in Lansing Michigan.
